They make more money when you spend more.
Many Managed Service Providers (MSPs) pad their profits by pushing unnecessary hardware, software licenses, or premium upgrades you don’t actually need. Often, they’re earning commissions behind the scenes—meaning their recommendations aren’t always in your best interest.

They lock you in with long-term contracts.
Some MSPs insist on multi-year agreements with complicated exit clauses, knowing full well that if you evaluated the relationship in a year, you might want out.

They bury the scope of work in jargon.
What looks like “comprehensive support” often comes with vague deliverables, hidden limitations, and expensive add-ons you’ll only find buried in the fine print.

They only show up when things break.
Many IT providers still operate on a break-fix model—they profit when you have problems, instead of preventing them.

They treat you like a number.
Some MSPs focus on volume, managing hundreds of clients with a cookie-cutter approach that ignores your unique needs.
